I hung out with voiceover artist on Monday
It was interesting.
She might be a tad crazy.
I (stupidly) told her about my blog. She wanted the address and I told her that there was no way in hell I was giving it to her (not quite that bluntly).
She might find it though. I mean, I guess it wouldn't be hard to find my blog if you were looking for it.
I used to have a blog a few years ago and once I let my girlfriend (the doctor) read it, I felt like I had to filter my thoughts.
I told voiceover this and she seemed to get it, though, I wouldn't put it past her to try to find it anyway. If she does and reads this, so be it.
Voiceover and I had coffee, then dinner, then I let her meet my pets.
(thank goodness I cleaned my apartment, which incidentally I've been told looks like an 18 year old boy's apartment - even when it's clean).
Then we had a drink at my favourite bar. (yes, I added the u...)
Quite honestly, sitting there having a drink with her, I could totally see myself hooking up with her, but I wouldn't want to date her. On account of her being crazy.
It turned out not to matter because sitting at that bar, voiceover told me that she thinks journalist likes her.
Ugh.
At this point, I realized that she's not only a tad crazy, but also delusional.
While journalist and I aren't dating anymore, we're still good friends and journalist doesn't like voiceover.
All of a sudden, I started thinking about our conversation. Voiceover did talk about journalist a lot.
Fuck.
How could I be such an idiot?
She likes journalist.
(incidentally, I hung out with journalist the next day and she confirmed this)
So that was that.
I'll still see voiceover a lot in the next few weeks. We're joining a sports team together. I happen to be quite good at this sport. Voiceover is not. Maybe I'll help her get better. Maybe I won't...
Up tomorrow night- Irish girl invited me to go with her to my favourite bar. BMW is going to be there and journalist may go too.
I gotta feeling...

Solo part 2 - sort of...
I went to my favorite bar again last night.
I had a shit day at work and the only thing that kept me going was knowing that I was going out after.
I didn't get out until 9pm.
I took a cab home.
(I hate cabs and avoid taking them at all costs. Much prefer public transportation - makes me feel like a real New Yorker. Though I took two cabs today. Damn.)
The bus would've taken at least 30 minutes - to go 2 miles - and I was antsy to have a drink. So a cab I took.
I got home, ate something, did my pet chores and changed.
I had my hair up in a pony tail for work. My hair is getting way too long and I need a cut, so I'm in pony-tail mode. I think it kind of makes me look more gay anyway, which can be an advantage sometimes. Not necessarily in the bar that I was going to though.
One of my friend's sisters (a cop - but not the cop from earlier blogs) was going to be there, so I knew that I'd know at least one person.
I got there and the first person I saw was my ex's (the doctor - one before the musician) current girlfriend. Nice. I'm not kidding when I say that I could hear the Black Eyed Peas singing Tonight's gonna be a good night in my head.
The doctor's girlfriend is hot. She doesn't like me. No doubt because she's insecure. I don't want to get back together with my ex, but we're still friends and she doesn't like it. Her problem though.
I went inside and walked over to the doctor and her girlfriend. They had 2 seats at the bar. We chatted for a bit, had a couple of drinks and they left.
I took both seats. It was a pretty good move actually. I left my jacket on one seat and sat in the other. I figured that I could save it for my friend's sister OR, if someone hot walked up, I could offer them the seat.
The first person to walk over was someone that looked kind of familiar. I was trying to place her. She kind of looked like the journalist's ex, but I've only seen her in pictures.
(the journalist is my most recent ex if you can call her that. I don't usually, but will here to make it easier to keep things straight. We dated for what seemed like a long time, but it always seemed more like friends with benefits than dating. We were both rebounding - her from this girl that I was running into now, me from the musician).
She looked at me, then did a double-take, then said something to her friend while still looking at me.
I said "what?" but in a friendlier way than it sounds here.
She said "are you ----".
I said "yeah".
She said "I'm -----".
Ha. It's was her.
My reaction was kind of a combination of "shit!" and "yes!".
I love this kind of stuff. That bar was packed. Packed in the way that the people in the front of the bar might not even see the people in the back, yet the ex's-ex ended up by me and my empty seat.
She was standing there with her friend. I of course offered for one of them to take the extra seat. A seat opened up next to that one, so they sat down.
She asked me where the journalist was. I shrugged and said I didn't know. She asked if we broke up. I said yep.
She said that I looked better than my pictures (she's seen pictures of me online). Funny because BMW told me that I look exactly like my pictures. I took it as a compliment.
I told her that she looked younger than her pictures. I can't decide if that was a stupid thing to say or not.
I actually talked mostly to her friend who was really nice. The ex's-ex seemed really shy. She said that it was a little weird to be talking to me. I told her that I thought it was funny. We all had a drink and toasted the journalist and they left after about an hour.
I spent the rest of the night with the cop and eventually her sister and another friend.
Tomorrow I'm hanging out with voiceover artist, who incidentally hung out with the journalist today. My first priority tomorrow is to make sure nothing's going on between them. If there isn't, it should be interesting.
I think.

Second date or first sober date
I went out with BMW again last night. I thought she'd never contact me again, but she did. The next morning.
We went to the same place as last time - a wine bar across the street from my apartment. It has Dominican food and she wanted to try it.
I got there on time. She got there about 30 minutes later. Not really her fault though - she drove to the city from where she lives and couldn't find parking. It was nice out and I was sitting by the window, so I was good.
While I was waiting, I started looking at the menu and realized that there wasn't a lot for me to eat.
I'm a vegetarian.
I became a vegetarian because the musician was a vegetarian.
She had this rule that she wouldn't kiss me for 2 hours if I'd eaten meat. Kind of a stupid rule, but I really liked kissing her and I didn't want to not be able to kiss her, even for 2 hours, so a vegetarian I became.
When we broke up, I didn't eat meat at first because I didn't want to disappoint her (pretty pathetic). Then I ate meat a few times just to spite her. Then I decided that I should probably make an informed decision, so I bought a book about the ethics of what we eat and watched the movie Food Inc and decided to stay a vegetarian. (It's a little more complicated than that, but you get the point...)
So I'm looking at this menu and realizing that there's really nothing I can eat other than a salad, some vegetables and maybe an empanada if they'll make it vegetarian.
BMW texted me to tell me that she was almost there. I ordered us both a glass of wine. I liked the thought of walking into a wine bar and having a glass of wine waiting for me and I figured she would too. Especially if she was driving around looking for parking for 20 or 30 minutes.
She walked in and looked much better than I remembered her looking. She's a little shorter than I like but that's really the only negative thing I can see in her physically.
I still wasn't interested in her though, but it wasn't because she's not hot.
She ultimately ordered a skirt steak that looked really good. I asked the waitress - no vegetarian empanada. Vegetables it was. Nice.
They turned out to be really good actually. She really wanted me taste her steak. It looked good, so I did. Just to spite the musician.
(kidding)
We got to know each other a little more. We both talked about our exes again (so not a good idea if you're trying to get with someone if you ask me).
She paid for dinner and the wine. I really tried to pay but she wouldn't let me. I walked her to her car. It's a cute little convertible.
She definitely gets that I'm not interested. My guess though is that she may think that we'll become friends and maybe more later.
I actually met someone over the weekend that has potential though. Maybe. She's a voiceover artist.
She's a little on the crazy side but in a harmless spiritual way. Not sure if I'll stay interested as I get to know her though.
I'm pretty picky.

Solo
Two Saturdays ago, I went to a bar by myself. My friend was supposed to go with me, but had to cancel at the last minute (for a good reason).
I was ready to go, so I went by myself. I couldn't imagine staying in that night. I decided that the worst thing that would happen is that I would stay for a drink and if I was uncomfortable, I'd just leave.
I don't do this often. I did this once when I was living in California and once about six months ago, the night that the musician and I broke up.
I got to the bar and it was packed - so crowded that I could barely get to the back just to see if I knew anyone there. I didn't know anyone though, so I moved back to the front.
I saw a little space in between two sets of people at the bar, so I squeezed in and ordered a drink.
(It has nothing to do with the story, but the Saturday night bartender is hot)
It turned out to be a good spot because the couple on my left were getting ready to leave and eventually did, so I scored a seat. I think I was on my second drink by that time.
Two Irish girls ended up sitting next to me - Irish, as in born in Ireland, with accents.
(I love accents)
We ended up talking for a few hours and traded off buying rounds of drinks.
One of the girls was straight and the other was bisexual. I wasn't really interested in either, but if I had been interested in one, it would have been the straight one (typical).
Another set of girls came a little bit later and sat near us. One of them sent us a note and when I read it, I saw that it was on a Walmart receipt. The person had purchased a bunch of random things, but the thing that caught my eye was baby wipes. Baby wipes?
It turned out they were moms from Pennsylvania. A couple of them were hot but not my type at all - and not because they were moms. They seemed like the type of girls that thought it would be fun to come to the city and try to pick up women. I'm willing to bet they were married.
They were fun though and we all hung out for a bit longer. I ended up talking to a Canadian girl that was hanging out with the moms but didn't know them before that night. It turned out that her birthday was the day after mine. She was cute, but too short for me (yes I'm picky).
In the end, I stayed somewhere between 4 and 5 hours, had 5 drinks and I got the bi Irish girl's number and the Canadian's.
(As I read that last sentence, it may sound like I'm bragging --- I'm not. I'm pretty sure that neither was interested in me either and the numbers were exchanged as friends...)

Drunk blog or post-first-date blog
Not really sure how 2 glasses of wine could do it, but somehow it did. I'm still pretty buzzed...even after a slice of pizza.
I had a first date tonight. I was terrible. Honestly. I feel sorry for her, though I kind of feel like she brought it on herself.
She was judging me from the beginning. In the first 2 minutes, she asked if I was ok because I was being quiet. It had only been 2 minutes.
I was just taking it all in. I walked up and she was chatting with the bartender in spanish. It was actually kind of hot.
I tried to move us to a table by the window. I like that table - ok, so what if it was the same table that the journalist and I sat at on our first date? - she didn't know that. Yet, judging by how the rest of the night went, she must've sensed it.
She kept reading me throughout the date and she was right - sort of.
She moved us to a different table. It was an ok table, but the table by the window was better if you ask me.
She started asking me about my exes. You can't get me started on my exes. I love to talk about my exes.
Then she said that I looked sad. Honestly, I was having fun on the date and I wasn't feeling sad at that moment. But in general today, I was kind of sad. I won't go into it now, but I just was. I guess she could see it in my eyes. I thought my eyes looked sad today too.
I felt a little bit like I was talking to a therapist. She kind of joked about it too.
In the end, I had 2 glasses of wine and she had one. She wouldn't let me pay for my drinks.
This happens to me all the time on the first date. I don't know what it is about me because it sure as hell isn't because I'm such a great date.
Funny a little bit because now that I'm thinking about it, the ones that don't pay for me are the ones that I end up dating long-term - the musician didn't pay, the journalist didn't pay. The doctor (one before the journalist) didn't pay.
She paid tonight.
I paid for pizza after the wine. Damn good pizza - but not the same as paying for the wine.
I walked her to her car. We hugged goodbye. She drives a bmw. Really hot. Not attracted to her though.
On to the next...

Alignment
Whenever I just happen to run into anyone in the city, it always amazes me. So many things have to align at the right moment to make it happen. There are friends that live 4 blocks away from me that I never just happen to run into, so when I run into someone that doesn't live in my area, it's even more crazy to me.
I was out until around 3:30am - a story that I'll write in a little bit. I couldn't sleep past 9am which was really fucking annoying for obvious reasons. I finally decided to get out of bed at around 10 or 10:30. I was thinking that I should shower, but I really wanted to get out of the house by 11. I can't explain why 11, but that was the time that I set for myself.
I started out by getting an egg and cheese sandwich at the corner deli (yum), then grabbed a cappuccino at my favorite coffee place, which is a little out of the way, but so worth it. There was a huge line. I took my dog with me and ended up running into a old friend from work. He's been living near me for 5 months and this is only the second time I've seen him. We talked for a bit and then I walked back towards the dog park.
When I was almost there, I looked to the left and thought that I saw my ex-ex crossing to my side of the street. Not the journalist, but the one before her - a musician. I hadn't seen her in over 4 months. We've only exchanged one email during that time, that was just a short "Doing ok? Me too." kind of email.
I stared at the girl for a few seconds trying to figure out if it was her. She didn't see me. She went the opposite direction and at first I was just going to let her go. Then I realized that was a stupid idea that I'd regret, so I turned back around.
I almost waited too long and didn't see her in front of me anymore. Shit. She must have turned down a street. I turned down the first street I could and saw her again. Phew.
When I got close enough, I could see a tattoo on the back of her right calf (that I forgot she had) and she was wearing the same tevas that she wears whenever it's warm outside. Definitely her. I called her name and she turned around.
She lives about 70 blocks straight north of me - a million miles in this city. One of her best friends lives about 2 blocks away from me, so I suppose it wasn't impossible that I would run into her, but I've never seen her best friend.
As I walked away, I was really glad I had skipped that shower. And that I stopped at the deli. And that there was a long line at the coffee place. And that I ran into my old work friend. And that my ex-ex happened to have gotten off the subway at the time that she did. Alignment.
It was really good to see her. It was really hard to see her. Not a day has gone by since we broke up that I haven't thought about her. Cheesy, I know, but true. I have no idea if she's dating anyone. Our break up was mutual - actually, technically, I broke up with her - but I took it a lot harder than she did.
When she walked away, she said that we should meet up for coffee.
I'm not stupid enough to think that we're going to get back together, but I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't mind that happening (yes, that's an understatement...).

Sick
Generally a healthy person, somehow I've managed to get sick with a cold/virus 3 times this year, not counting an episode of vertigo that luckily only lasted pretty much one day and I'm told was probably also viral.
I could feel this one coming on Wednesday, the same day I was supposed to go out with the cop. Funny, because I almost used the sick excuse to cancel on her.
I think I got the cold from my most recent ex (journalist). It's the second time she's gotten me sick. At least we were still sleeping together the first time, so it was kind of worth it. This time, all we did was go to brunch, where she had a bite of my omelette. Nice.
My boss wasn't very understanding about me being sick. She gave me a hard time about coming in late one of the days, so I knew that I couldn't call in sick yesterday. Instead, I worked through it and got sicker.
I went to a doctor a few days after it started. The only reason I went was to get antibiotics. I pretty much told her that, so she gave them to me. She said that they probably wouldn't help since my signs sounded viral. I was only supposed to fill them if I felt my chest getting congested. I filled them anyway.
They haven't really helped though. Go figure.
The cop took the canceling well by the way. She thanked me for my honesty and still wants to be friends. Guess that's a good thing. Don't really want to be on the bad side of a cop.
